DFL bars its only AG challenger from the convention floor
ROCHESTER, MN — This morning Keith Ellison posted on social media: "Today's the day. Let's show what people power looks like."
At the same moment, the DFL informed Dave Madgett, the only DFL candidate challenging Ellison for Attorney General, that he will not be permitted to enter the convention floor.
Not to speak. Not to sit. Not to enter.
The DFL's Political Director confirmed in writing that Madgett, who is not a delegate, cannot access the floor where 1,200 delegates will vote on his race today. If a delegate chooses to move for him, he will receive 50 seconds.
"It gives the impression that party leadership is more interested in affirming an incumbent than allowing candidates to actually be heard. I'll be outside if any delegate wants to talk."
Ellison won his last race by fewer than 21,000 votes, less than one percentage point, before the full scale of Minnesota's fraud crisis became public. The Republican nominee this fall is running almost entirely on that fraud.
Madgett is a consumer protection attorney and Air Force JAG veteran who has spent nearly two decades fighting fraud for individual Minnesotans. He is available for interviews outside Mayo Civic Center today and tomorrow.
"The real vote is August 11. That's when all Minnesotans get to decide, not just 1,200 delegates."
The primary is August 11. Every Minnesotan gets a vote.
